On 27th-28th January 2021, Glasgow Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a delegation of Scottish companies for a virtual trade mission to Barcelona. The mission will focus on the Renewables’ Industry and aims to attract Scottish companies working in and across these sectors who are interested in exporting and international expansion.
What does it include?
There will be the opportunity to join group sector-specific and market sessions, involving key players in the market such as Iberdrola Group. Individual business to business meetings with Spanish firms will also be a key element of the event. Glasgow Chamber will work with its Scottish companies to identify suitable business matches in order to generate as much value as possible. Furthermore, with COP26 drawing closer, it is an opportunity for businesses to connect with Spanish firms and hear about the initiatives and plans leading up to COP in both areas.
In addition to building and strengthening relationships with foreign partners, the mission is a unique opportunity to join together with like-minded Scottish firms. Collaborations and new local partnerships are often one of the many positive outcomes that we see from these initiatives.
Next steps
If you are a Scottish company within the Green Tech and Renewable Energy sector, and are interested in joining our virtual trade mission to Spain, please email internationaltrade@glasgowchamberofcommerce.com for an application form.
Applications will close on the 30th November 2020.
Why should you join?
Yes, being on a screen may create different barriers and add to the cultural challenges when in market, however over the past six months we have learnt that international opportunities and success are not confined to the ‘in person meeting’. Virtual platforms are the best we have right now. They may not be perfect, but they do allow new relationships to be formed and they do open up the international world to smaller Scottish businesses.
Are you a Scottish business looking to broaden your international connections? Are you up for the challenge of ‘virtually’ forming partnerships and expanding your business?
Glasgow Chamber would be delighted to have you join us.
Barcelona’s Energy Sector
The energy sector within Catelonia is a key industry with a number of companies developing innovative solutions in energy efficiency. Barcelona’s current energy model is based largely on fossil-fuel energy consumption, and therefore there is a real need to generate energy from local (renewable and waste) resources. The region offers many opportunities for the development of solar, wind power and biomass projects.
