Impacts of centralised air-source heat pump location and design in urban heat networks

Heat Decarbonisation Show Floor Theatre

In the Heat Decarbonisation Show Floor Theatre on 11th May, Joel Gustafsson, Director, JG Consulting and Lyall Archer, Process Engineer, SSE – Energy Solutions and Lyall Archer, Process Engineer, SSE – Energy Solutions, delivered a presentation on Iipacts of centralised air-source heat pump location and design in urban heat networks.

Lyall Archer, Process Engineer, SSE – Energy Solutions

Lyall is a Process Engineer within SSE Energy Solutions’ Thermal Energy team, who leads on the decarbonisation strategy and design of low carbon heat networks. With a focus on retrofit of electrified heating systems to existing district heating energy centres and development of innovative heat recovery solutions for new heat networks, he advises on the technoeconomic feasibility and performance of centralised heat pump energy solutions. Lyall and his team are advocates of air source heat pump fed heat networks in the context of an expedited, but fair, transition to Net-Zero heat.
