TotalEnergies acquires stake in Simply Blue Energy’s 1GW Aurora floater

Shares in Simply Blue Energy's 1GW Aurora floating wind project in the UK's Celtic Sea have been acquired by TotalEnergies. Earlier this year, National Grid granted a grid connection for the Alverdiscott project on the north Devon coast, effective in October 2031.

Through TotalEnergies joint venture with Simply Blue, the company already owns 80% of the Erebus offshore wind farm. The 300MW Valorous early-commercial project that the partners hope to develop in the Celtic Sea is also owned by Blue Gem Wind.

For floating wind projects in the Celtic Sea, The Crown Estate intends to organise a 4GW leasing round the following year.
