Younity supports the 200th UK community energy project

A total of 200 community energy projects are now being supported by Younity, a joint venture between the Midcounties Co-operative and Octopus Energy, throughout the UK. Currently, approximately 60,000 UK households could be powered by the energy produced by the projects that Younity supports.

Younity signed 32 new contracts and agreed to 132 PPA renewals in 2022. These contracts included a broad range of locations, including 136 solar sites, 22 wind sites, and 42 hydro sites that spanned from Scotland to Cornwall and touched every part of Great Britain.

In spite of the fact that the Midcounties Co-operative has long supported community energy, Chief Values Officer Peter Westall stated they are now committed to going even farther because of the urgency of the climate problem and the impact that energy market volatility has on everyone. It's significant for community energy in this nation that Younity has reached its 200th PPA, but they'll keep collaborating with others to make sure there are many more to come. When Younity was established in October 2019, according to Zoisa North-Bond, CEO of Octopus Energy Generation, it had signed its 200th Power Purchase Agreement, putting it one step closer to achieving its objective of assisting the burgeoning community energy movement.
